About
Amanda Chinchilla, MS, LMFT, CSAT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, #52752
CSAT-Certified Sex Addiction Therapist
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 18 years experience helping individuals, couples and families. Currently I have an office in Long Beach, CA as well as on online practice. I have training/experience in a variety of different therapeutic approaches: complex trauma therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), meditation/mindfulness, shame resilience, and positive psychology practices. This eclectic background allows me to integrate various therapeutic strategies based on the needs of each individual person I work with.
I believe strongly in the relationship between the therapist and client. The alliance between us is more important than any specific technique or philosophy. I strive to be warm and approachable, with an interactive style, which hopefully allows you feel comfortable and understood. In this dynamic, healing can happen.

I have worked with individuals and couples and seen them overcome severe traumas, infidelity, parental enmeshment trauma, and addictions. My passion is helping people heal from their traumas, identify their needs, and live the life they deserve to live.
Education and Certifications
In 2002, I completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from UCLA and in 2007, a Master's of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University, Long Beach. I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and am registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. I have also completed the Certified Sex Addiction Treatment (CSAT) certification with IITAP, International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Therapists.
